MPMCT was originally set-up in 2000 to disperse
the interest earned on a proportion of monies returned to the Province
by Grand Lodge - arising from the last Provincial Festival (Middlesex
’98)
Trustees of MPMCT under the Chairmanship of .V.W.
Bro Peter Baker (Deputy Provincial Grand Master) are therefore responsible
for ALL policy decisions, and have the final say as to how the “Interest”
on monies referred to above are
dispersed. The “Trustees” are in turn supported by the
Trustees Advisory Committee (TAC) the Chairman of which is W. Bro.
Dudley Wensley PSGD, PAProvGM.
The aim is to support “good causes”
in general – but activities (mostly Non-Masonic), within the
County (Province) of Middlesex – which is funded by the interest
we earn from the 20% returned to the Province following the Middlesex
’98 Festival.
Our endeavour is to encourage Brethren/Companions
to seek out charitable organisations (primarily) ranging from Scout/Guides
to Old Peoples Social Clubs – plus of course assorted units
within say Northwick Park Hospital for example (who have secured
significant sums hitherto), and ascertain whether an injection of
money (normally up to around £2,500 to £3,000) in the
form of a specific piece of “kit” (i.e. a new boiler,
replacing an old computer/furniture, new CCTV etc etc). We try to
avoid giving money wherever possible for obvious reasons. In addition,
we also encourage “Direct Applications” from Charities/Organisations
where hitherto, there is NO Masonic Connection
The Brethren/Companions (or indeed the applicant)
would then complete a “Grant Application Form”, which
(where appropriate) should indicate the “Middlesex Sponsoring
Lodge/Chapter” in the first instance together with other basic
information.
Two copies of the “Grant” form are attached
- as one may come across activities within the local community who
might benefit from our assistance
On completion, everything is passed to the Secretary
who in turn arranges for one of the “Trustee Advisory Committee
Representatives” to follow up the case, meet the personnel
concerned, obtain background information, 2 x years accounts (where
appropriate), and then submit everything together with say 2 x estimates
for the item(s) of kit required – back to the Secretary. Photocopies
are taken, before passing the papers to all TAC Members for them
to study in readiness for the forthcoming meeting of the TAC, which
meets every 3 months (or as necessary).
