WHAT IS THE CHARITY FORUM ?

PROVINCE OF MIDDLESEX
CHARITY FORUM

At the meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge on 14th May, 2002, the R.W Pro Provincial Grand Master (Grand Superintendent) announced that following a review of the various charitable activities in the Province, he had established a CHARITY FORUM, its mission to “share ideas”. The Forum consists of all Charity Stewards, Almoners and any other Brethren with a particular interest in those two aspects of Masonic Charity.

The Forum has no subscription and every Brother and Companion appointed to the position of
Lodge/Chapter Almoner or Charity Steward is automatically a member of the
Forum during the time that they hold those offices.

The Members of the Forum Council are:

Chairman
W.Bro DUDLEY WENSLEY, PSGD, PAProvGM

Deputy Chairman
W.Bro DEREK MAURI, PPrDepGReg

Provincial Grand Almoner
W.Bro
MARTIN HICKMAN-ASHBY, PAGDC

Provincial Grand Charity Steward (Craft)
W.Bro MICHAEL CUMPER, ProvGChStwd

Provincial Grand Charity Steward (Royal Arch)
W.Bro ADRIAN HOWARTH, PGStB

Treasurer
W.Bro REMO HIDE, PPrJGD

Secretary
W.Bro SAM BAQUI
61, West Avenue
Finchley, London, N3 1AU
Tel: 020 8346 1281

The mission of “sharing ideas” is achieved by being responsive to the needs of Middlesex Masons and their dependants. Local Forum committees are based at each of the five Middlesex
Centres and the respective Charity Forum Centre Chairmen are:

W.Bro Louis Raphael, PProvAGDC

On occasion the Forum arranges central meetings but the individual Centres arrange more frequent local meetings where the members choose the topics for discussion. From time to time special speakers are invited from both central Masonic and local non-Masonic charities. As the Almoner’s wife is very often the first point of contact, particularly when it is a brother’s widow seeking help, when meetings are held which are of particular interest to Almoners, their wives are welcome to attend and fully participate.

The Forum provides the support that Almoners and Charity Stewards need from their peers in the work that they do. This work is the core activity in a caring fraternity.
